OUR SOLUTION

MIST is a sticker that monitors concentration levels of mold in and around fresh produce and fruit packaging, thus enabling better storage and transportation practices, and reducing risks to consumers. When applied to fresh produce packaging before shipment, the sticker is capable of accurately measuring concentration levels of 50 different mold species.

HOW IT WORKS

PEEL OFF

STICKER

Remove the protective film from the back of the sticker to expose the adhesive layer.

ACTIVATE

STICKER

Remove the seal from the top of the sticker to allow air infected by mold to reach the hydrogel for concentration level measurement.

FOR FARMS

  • Mold contamination leads to substantial financial losses due to the associated regulatory burden, lost products, potential shutdown of protection, illnesses or even deaths of consumers.

  • Analysis of product samples is needed to assure that product offered to the market meets regulatory and market requirements. These considerable costs are incurred both by industry and by various government regulatory and action agencies

.

  • In Canada, various national legal frameworks and regulations such as Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and others are being imposed by different government associations to maintain an effective food control system and food functioning.

FOR PACKAGING PRODUCERS

  • A wide range of yeast, mold, and bacteria can infect fruits and vegetables. If food is not sorted and packed appropriately, food can become contaminated during storage or shipping. This results in rapid mold growth and synthesis of mycotoxins

  • The data collected using our stickers will enable the development of new conservation, storage, and transportation methods, reducing the loss of produce due to spoilage, while also giving consumers peace of mind.

MOLD IN CONSTRUCTION

Mold monitoring at home and in construction

LINK TO GOVERNMENT WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION:

  • In a home or building, molds and fungi are usually found growing on wood, drywall (plaster/gypsum/Sheetrock®), upholstery, fabric, wallpaper, drapery, ceiling tiles, and carpeting. As well, it may be present in ventilation systems.

  • The conventional way to monitor mold is by taking samples and growing them in Petri dishes in a laboratory. On-site monitoring solutions are limited to monitoring temperature and humidity, which are the necessary components for mold growth, but may not be indicative of mold per se.

  • MIST stickers are inexpensive, easy to apply, and do not require laboratory testing. They monitor mold concentration levels anywhere and at all times – in basements, in bathrooms, in ventilation systems, etc. Simply apply the sticker to the wall in the room or ventilation shaft and check it from time to time to make sure there are no signs of mold growth. Replace it once every 5 years when it expires.
